Perhaps I am slightly biased, having never lived in the city and being brought up in the beautiful English countryside all of my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love to city too but there is nothing like the silence and the tranquility of the country.
Fresh Air
Something that probably goes unnoticed for most but a big factor as to why I love living in the countryside as much as I do. I visited London a year ago and when I returned home, I noticed a difference in my hair and the disgusting black dirt that was coming out of my nose, from the fumes of cars and just general dirt in the city. Every day since then, I’ve noticed the difference and will be for ever grateful for the clean, unpolluted air.
In rural life, there aren’t many noises or sounds that can disrupt your day. Besides from the sheep bleating, the wind rustling the leaves on the trees and the few cars that pass through the town, every single day is a peaceful one. Perfect for unwinding and relaxing.
Tranquility
Beauty Around Every Corner
Discovering somewhere to picnic or a private secluded place by the lake isn’t hard when you spend time exploring the Lake District. Whether it be spending the day up a mountain, by a small tarn or in a quaint cafe in one of the towns, you can be sure to discover something breathtaking.
Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, away from drama and unfamiliar faces. Growing up in a tight nit community can have its perks, as everybody is a friend. I find that most folk you meet in the country are nice and would be more than willing to help you out if you needed it.
A Safe Place
Endless Adventures
Just like the city, you can find 5* restaurants and theatres/cinemas but sometimes you want something to do that isn’t going to break the bank. Don’t get me wrong, dining out is one of my favourite things to do but when I’m stuck on cash, I tend to opt for a picnic or a walk in the countryside. Creating memories, discovering new places and exploring = priceless.
Although I do prefer the countryside, I am looking forward to my next trip to the city in a short while, perhaps Barcelona will change my mind….
