Another Sunday well spent on the mountains in the Lake District. This is becoming a regular thing isn’t it? I’m beginning to like it alot actually, even if it did hailstone just as we reached the summit of Pike o’ Stickle. Today we decided to tackle part of the Langdale Pikes. We loved The Langdales that much that we returned again, although Crinkle Crags is still my favourite but maybe that’s because we had such glorious weather?!

It was just a small team of three today, Josh, my dad and myself! My brother Alex was supposed to join us but he was too hungover, again! I’m really loving not drinking so much alcohol, I can’t remember the last time I was drunk. I much prefer doing things like this on weekends! Oh man, am I getting old already? 😉
It’s a ritual of mine that every peak we reach together we get a photo together so here is one of the two of us looking very windswept. This one was taken on the summit of Pike O’ Stickle with Harrison Stickle in the background to the left. We didn’t venture over that way as the weather started to turn so we headed down Pavey Ark and down past Stickle Tarn.
Wow, just look at that sky! I love walking when the sun is shining and there is no wind blowing my hair around like crazy but getting out today with the snow, the wind and hailstone was such an experience. We watched a documentary on Netflix the other night called ‘Meru’, I highly recommend it to anyone who is in to walking or climbing. It’s inspiring and I totally get why they want to achieve some of the crazy things they do.
The hike took us 4 hours in total and just as we reached the van it started to rain. That was a really nice feeling because I knew we were expecting rain and I wanted to be down before we got absolutely drenched! We stopped at the Britannia Inn in Elterwater for cheesey chips and I had a mulled wine, Josh and Dad had Moretti. It’s a little bit pricey in there but so cosy and small! We managed to get a seat by the fire which was lovely although I could’ve easily fallen asleep. Now, it’s time for Blue Planet and an early night before work in the morning.
