What a glorious day it turned out to be! I was hoping that the predicted thunderstorm would hold off until later on this evening and thankfully it did. It was quite hot sat in the sunshine and so nice to actually feel that warmth on my body. My friend and work colleague Clare and I wanted to go on a low level, quite flat walk as she had Ollie to either push or carry. We decided on Rydal to Grasmere and I genuinely forgot how long it takes to walk to and from Rydal car park, all the way to Grasmere and back again. However, I can now tell you that it is a staggering 8 miles. 8, yes, 8 miles and with a toddler that is not easy going. I stupidly wore my Birkenstocks, now my feet are in my pain, I’m absolutely shattered and I’m back at work tomorrow. What we planned on being a short 2 hour walk turned in to 4 hours, which sounds super long for a flat 8 miles but the queue for Grasmere Gingerbread was as long as ever but well worth the wait! Now, I’m just waiting for my M&S chicken, leek and ham pie and roast potatoes to come out of the oven so I can enjoy some food before bed. I’m absolutely whacked, I even fell asleep in the car on the way home. Great company, haha! But I’m just so glad that I managed to get out this weekend, instead of being cooped up at home. Right, enough rambling.. speak to you soon and have a happy week! Lots of love, L.
