First weekend on the new house

One of the front bedrooms, fully stripped of its wallpaper. Next: get rid of the rubbish and roll up the carpets.

Saturday morning bacon and egg buns from the local shop. Probably the biggest buns I’ve ever seen but extremely good (shame about the polystyrene boxes).

Josh, Alex and Dad peeking out of the velux window.

Flowers and cards from friends. I actually have a few more now and this is one of my favourite spots in the house. Will most definitely have flowers here all year round.

This is me stripping the wallpaper in the hallway/landing. We managed to get almost all of the rooms stripped over the weekend.

The biggest window in the house is in the living room. I absolutely love it as it floods in so much light, even behind that tree (which we plan on removing).

What a lovely weekend it’s been, working on the house and catching up with friends. We really do have some fabulous friends and family who have made the effort to pop by for a cuppa or helped graft alongside us. Obviously we provide alcohol, tea, coffee and food, so anyone who does want to give us a hand, please feel free to do so, haha! Friday night we enjoyed an Indian with Hannah and Dan who we went to Dorset with. We sat in the lounge on our camping chairs, lit the candles when it got a little dark and told ghost stories. It was spooky! We were all too nervous to go to the toilet alone, we had scared ourselves that much. On Saturday we did a little work in the morning but we were both busy with other commitments so didn’t have much time to make a difference. Then today we actually managed to finish stripping two double bedrooms, the hallway/landing, started on the office room and then started on the lounge. My Gran, Mum and Josh’s brother Aaron all came around to help and we actually had such a good day, it didn’t even feel like work. We had music on, G&T’s flowing, you know.. how work should be! We even began weeding in the yard at the back just to make it look more lived in than anything! Tomorrow, we actually have Josh’s Dad and Aaron popping by to help us with removing the bathroom and the wall that separates the kitchen and living room, so we should really see some progress then! I’m not sure what to make them for tea, what do you think 3 men working hard would love to eat? It has to be something homemade because we’ve spent an absolute fortune on food this weekend… Let me know if you have any tasty, filling, fairly healthy meal ideas. Anyway, I’m going to leave it there for today and I really hope you love seeing all my updates. Speak soon, L.
