New backpack alert! I got my very own bag for Christmas. Usually I use one of Josh’s old bags so it was never something I desperately needed. Josh picked this one for me and I absolutely love it! You can see it here if you like the look of it. It’s super comfy and the colour of it is just so me.

Alex also treated himself to a new bag from Lowe Alpine. It is a lovely red colour and comes with this waterproof cover, ideal when the weather was like it was the other day.

I think ham and coleslaw sandwiches are my favourite sandwich ever.

This Rab storm shelter was a little stocking filler I got for Josh last Christmas and this was the first time we’ve had to use it. It is only a two man shelter, so Dad and Alex ate their sandwiches behind a wall. Oh god, that sounds awful of us but to be honest the weather wasn’t that bad! We just wanted to test it out. You can view that here too!

On our way down Rough Edge as the weather started to clear. The views from here are incredible.

Dad purchased me a pair of Rab fleece lined leggings which, oh my god, have changed my life. I wanna wear them every single day, I want to wear them to work, to bed, to lounge about in, they are literally the best. AND even after walking through all that snow, my legs were bone dry! Amazing, highly recommended and you can view them here.

Dad also got to wear his new Gortex jacket. I love the colour of it! Everybody probably thought we looked like the bloody Teletubbies in all our colour jackets and bags!

I love these photos of the landscape. They are so moody and dramatic. I never got my camera out because the weather was too bad so all of these photos have been taken on my iPhone.

Not a care in the world. I love being outside so much. I’m thankful that I have my family who will force me to get outside, wind, rain or shine. It’s so good for my soul and to just walk and think about everything and anything.

We popped in to the Haweswater Hotel for a bite to eat and a hot chocolate. It’s a lovely art deco style hotel. We all said how lovely it would be to get married there!

Well, I think last nights sleep was one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a very long time. After a long 4 hour walk yesterday, some grub and a nice warm bed, I was out for the count until 10:30 this morning. I have however, jolted my back and I’m in quite a bit of pain with it. It’s been sore now for a month so I think it’s time I go and see my Dr for some advice because I feel crippled with pain. Yesterday I tested out my new Arc’teryx back pack. Isn’t it just lovely? I’ve wanted my own bag for a little while now and when I opened this present on Christmas Day I immediately fell in love with the colour. It didn’t come with a waterproof cover unlike Josh’s, Dad’s and Alex’s bag but I actually found that my stuff inside didn’t get wet at all. I had a spare pair of socks and a spare head band on the outer zip pocket, which was completely dry. So, even though we were walking through a snow blizzard for over an hour, my camera and everything inside stayed bone dry. The Rab fleece lined leggings were also a saviour. These were a Christmas present from my Dad and it’s something I’ve been hinting at, ever since my work colleague recommended them. They are SO comfy and soft and surprisingly water resistant. Even though my leggings were wet, they hadn’t actually managed to get through the fleece lining which meant by legs were dry and warm! Alex also got me an Arc’teryx head band to match my bag. I wore that too which was lovely and lightweight, warm and soft. We don’t often buy each other presents so it was a nice surprise. The other presents that I received from the rest of my family weren’t walking related so I didn’t test anything else out. We had a lovely Christmas, ate lots of food, sat in front of the fire, watched films, slept, had a massage courtesy of my brother and just had a lovely, non stressful, quiet Christmas. Josh and I are planning to host Christmas next year with a roast turkey and all the trimmings, seeing as though we haven’t had that for the past two years. I do hope that the house is ready by then, although it doesn’t look promising at the moment seeing as though we are never there! Fingers crossed though because I already have my decorations in mind. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and spent it doing exactly what you wanted to be doing. I know that this time of year isn’t always easy for a lot of people. Wishing you all the best in 2020, lots of love, L.
